About Us
Welcome to Idioms Master – where English comes alive, one expression at a time!
Hi, I’m Josh Greenfield, the creator of IdiomsMaster.com. I’m an English instructor, novelist, and lifelong language lover based in New York.
With over 19 years of writing experience and more than 3 years teaching English full-time at Kings Education, I’ve spent much of my life helping people find the right words — whether in the classroom or on the page. I’ve taught beginner to advanced English courses, fluency discussions, and writing classes. I’m also licensed by the State of New York to teach English to adults.
But Idioms Master isn’t just about grammar rules or textbook definitions. It’s about showing how idioms, phrases, and expressions bring English to life. Whether you’re learning for school, travel, work, or just for fun, I’ll help you understand the hidden meanings behind everyday English — and maybe even have a little fun with it.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me writing stories. My fiction has appeared in publications like The Cornell Daily Sun, The Riverdale Press, Better than Starbucks, Chaleur Magazine, and many others. My story “And the Doors of the Ambulance Closed” was nominated for a Best of the Net award, and my novel Continue Breathing was published in 2020.
I hold a BA in History from Cornell University and an MA in English Literature from Hunter College, where I wrote my thesis on the role of the Jew in James Joyce’s Ulysses — a novel packed with idioms, irony, and imagination.
- Whether you’re just starting to learn English or you're ready to master the tricky stuff, I’m here to help you feel confident, curious, and maybe even a little poetic.
- Thanks for stopping by! — Josh
